Celebrity cars feature in Classic Car Auction's Virtual Sale
UK-based auction house to offer cars from the likes of Rowan Atkinson and Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay
UK based Classic Car Auctions are hosting their first virtual sale with an online auction highlighted with celebrity owned cars, Saturday March 28th 2020.
Topping the list is a Mercedes Benz 500E owned by Rowan Atkinson and offered at no reserve.
Finished in Nautic Blue that Atkinson describes, "as by far the most attractive colour for the 500E", this is the fourth example of this model he has owned. This wolf in sheep’s clothing was originally sold in Japan and arrived in the UK 2015 and comes with full books, Japanese and UK history and has had the interior woodwork and seats refurbished.
Next is Jamiroquai front man Jay Kay’s first car - a 1972 BMW 1602 - and the one he learned to drive in, now with 57,000 miles on the clock.
He drove 30,000 miles in it while touring and writing and it is believed a lot of his first album was created in this car.
He then sold it to a band member and bought it back ten years ago and planned to restore it but never got around to it, so it is up for grabs at no reserve.
Another of Jay Kay’s cars, presumably after he’d ‘made it’ is a 1976 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow.
Five years ago it was stripped back to bare metal, refurbished and repainted. The current vendor bought the car in 2017 and spent almost $10,000 on detailing. With 42,000 miles on the clock and former famous previous owners it’s estimated at $53,000 - $63,000.
The auction begins at 10am UK time on Saturday 28th March.
