Fully restored with stroked 454ci V8: comes with original 396ci big-block and heads

If you like your muscle cars measured in cubic inches and square inches of sheet metal, it’s increasingly hard to stomach the big money asked for our beloved Australian-made heroes.

But if you’re after an arguably more value-filled proposition, the plentiful American cars on local shores are often a great place to look.

Take the fourth generation Chevrolet Impala for example.

The range was completely redesigned in 1965, and yielded an unprecedentedly successful sales record for Chevrolet, with more than 1 million units sold in the US.

The pillarless coupe body is our pick of the bunch which sat atop a new perimeter frame and full-coil suspension.

Engine options ranged from a 250ci inline-six through a bevy of Turbo fire and Turbo jet V8s, ranging from 283ci to 454ci.

This 1965 Chevrolet Impala SS coupe presents rust free and fully restored throughout.

It was originally delivered with a 396ci big-block V8; but has since been retrofitted with a stroked 454ci coupled to a four-speed manual. The original 396ci block and heads will be included with the sale, however, should you seek to return the car to original numbers.

The car remains in its native left-hand drive and is hard to fault from the photos throughout.

If you’re after a tough cruiser with more than its fair share of grunt and attitude, this might be worth a look!

The Impala SS is based in Victoria and is listed for $65,000.
