Smart affordable classic: One family owned, recently serviced and fully functional

This late-model generation of brick-headlight Benzes seem to be coming into their own as of late; with increasing interest and curiousity observed by us amongst the wider market.

The W124 series was developed to fill the gap between the Mercedes-Benz’s simple compact cars and the larger and tech-filled S-class.

The new W124 shape first arrived in Australia in 1986, with prices for the 300E jumping from around $80,000 to $107,000 just two years later.

The handsome two-door version, the 300CE, arrived in 1988, and took the range of W124s to new heights of sport prestige.

Costing $130,000 new, the slick coupe came packed with ABS, a sunroof, power front seat adjustment and leather trim.

This 1988 W124 300CE has remained in single-family ownership since new!

30 years on, it presents very well with two-tone silver and bronze paintwork and cream leather interior.

It’s recently been serviced with the seller has pointed out that the sunroof and seat belt presenters are fully functional.

W124 generation Mercedes-Benzes carry a bulletproof reputation – for good reason as they’re frequently known to spin the odometer up well past half a million kays without fuss, given proper routine maintenance.

If this 154,270km example has got some service history behind it, it could be a seriously good buy at $8,900.

The car is based in Tasmania, you can check out the full listing here!
