HG Brougham HG Brougham

308 V8, Trimatic auto, 3rd owner of 20 years: very original condition throughout

Ford’s Fairlane ruled the full-size luxury segment in the early 70s forcing the General to respond with the Brougham.

Built off the Premier’s 111" wheelbase, the Brougham’s rear section was further extended for a more-than-copious 906lt boot, and was a class leader for build quality and finish – though compromised cabin space compared to the Fairlane given its unchanged wheelbase.

The more powerful 308 V8 was introduced previously in the HT series, as was the trusty Trimatic.

Plush carpet and seats exemplified the Brougham’s appeal; this was a car best to be driven in.

Today, they remain a bit of a rarity and are fairly sought after as practical and competent cruisers.

This 1970 HG Brougham has come to market from its third owner of 20 years.

It’s got 157,099 miles on its original driveline and presents in very original condition with factory air-conditioning, power steering and original wheels and trim.

The car is based in Victoria and is listed for $45,000.
