1968 Morris Minor-Mini Super Deluxe with just 272 miles for sale
The “World’s Most Original Mini” is on the market in the UK
Is this "the world’s most original Mini"?
Delivered over 50 years ago, and presenting today with just 272 miles on the odometer and plastic wrapping still on the seats; this time-warp 1968 Mk1 Morris Minor-Mini Super Deluxe very well might be!
But what’s the story? Was it owned by an incredibly ambitious investor who believed the mainstream British mini-car would one day be the iconic collectible it is?
Well according to Woodham-Mortimer, a classic car dealership in the UK and, the current vendors of this spectacularly unused Mini – the story is a lot more whimsical than that.
The Mk1 Mini was built in 1967 – one of the last in the Mk1 production, and was registered and delivered to a Mrs B Jones in 1968.
Mrs Jones purchased the car to learn to drive in – however she never got on the road and the car was garaged until her family auctioned it off just a few years ago.
For nearly 50 years, the car sat dormant – and subsequently presents today as a true time-capsule car, free of rust and virtually brand new. We’d wager it’d be nigh on impossible to find a more original car, down to the pristine door strikers and various painted screws which are usually the first to show rust and wear.
The original Tartan Red interior still bears much of its delivery plastics, and having been stored out of sunlight shows absolutely no wear or fading.
Even the optional seatbelts fitted pre-delivery still sport the manufacturer’s original cardboard labels.
The car is available for viewing in Woodham-Mortimer’s showroom in Essex, UK.; and includes all original books and even Mrs. Jones’ Learner L Plates from the late 60s.
