Tickford selling the first Bathurst ’77 Mustang Special
The Tickford Special was built as tribute to one of the greatest moment in Australian Motorsport
Back in 2017, Tickford announced that it would build 77 special edition Mustangs to commemorate the historic 1-2 for Ford at the 1977 Hardie-Ferodo 1000.
The photo finish saw Allan Moffat and Jacky Ickx finish ahead of Colin Bond and Alan Hamilton in a pair of Moffat Ford Dealer XC Falcon hardtops.
Tickford have recently announced that Build no.1 of the Bathurst ’77 Special Mustang is coming to market publically since it was delivered as part of a private collection in 2017.
The 77 Special Edition pony cars were sold new to the tune of $170,000 when new and were production numbered along with Moffat’s signature on the build plate.
The mustang bears a Roush supercharger, along with a host of supporting modifications like intake, injectors, revised fuel-pump controle module, ECU remap, bespoke 3" exhaust and more. Put together, it all elevates the factory’s 5.0lt V8 to a brutish 542kW/827Nm.
Underneath, there’s a full suite of Steeda bracing, adjustable coilover dampers, and Wilwood brakes.
Visually, the car mimics Moffat’s 1977 XC Hardtop with a full tribute livery, replica rear wing, bronze wheels and the no.1 build plaque.
Today, the car is able to be viewed at the Tickford Race Centre in Campbellfield Victoria, and is on the market for $170,000 drive away.
