The bespoke Porsche restorers will auction their first car for up to AU$1.5 million

Singer Vehicle Designs, a bespoke artisanal car maker turning 964 Porsches into the ultimate air-cooled restomods, is celebrating their tenth birthday at one of the biggest global car events on the calendar – Monterey Car Week.

It was ten years ago on the Monterey Peninsula when Singer first unveiled its ‘reimagined’ 911.

The first Singer, the Mountain View commission (pictured below), will be auctioned off by Gooding & Company as part of their Monterey auction.

Featuring an uprated 4.0lt flat-six, six-speed Getrag manual gearbox, electronic fuel injection, four-wheel Brembo disc brakes, and the nicest Porsche interior you’ve ever seen – the car is estimated to fetch between USD$800,000 and $1,000,000. That’s an eye-watering AU$1.2 million to $1.5 million at the current exchange rate.

A once-unknown Californian firm, Singer’s builds are commissioned by customers who provide a 964 911 as a base. Singer then cherry-pick the very best parts from the 911s lineage, along with a host of bespoke modern components, to create the "ultimate" 911.

Today, their builds are revered the world over, and have sold more than 150 iterations of their reimagined 911 to customers globally; closest to home being the New Zealand commission. To many Porsche faithfuls, Singer cars are the absolute pinnacle.

Rob Dickinson, the founder and visionary behind Singer Vehicle Designs stated: "Singer began as our own personal philosophy, but we seem to have resonated with something in the world of 21st century design".

"It’s incredibly affirming and humbling to discover how so many of us think as one, as car enthusiasts".

Singer’s birthday bash will kick off on August 14 with an event at McCall’s Motorworks Revival, and will continue on August 16 at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering and the Werks Reunion.

More than two dozen Singer owners will be gathering in Monterey to take part of the week-long festivities.
