ZA Fairlane ZA Fairlane

Fresh 302, column auto, new 2-pack paint, no rust; rego, RWC and original plates included

Despite a clever and successful marketing campaign positioning Ford’s new ZA Fairlane as a thoroughly Australian product, in actuality the new full-size luxobarge originally was constructed of imported US body sections from the windscreen back – but borrowed its fair share of componentry form Ford’s other breakout model, the XR Falcon.

Nevertheless, 50 years ago, a big V8 Fairlane was an incredibly aspirational car to own.

And over the next 40 years, would become a much-loved nameplate within our local industry.

They were original available in two trim levels – the Fairlane Custom, fitted as standard with the six-cylinder ‘pursuit’ motor; and the more expensive Fairlane 500 which borrowed the 289ci V8 from the American mustang.

This first-year 1967 ZA Fairlane on sale here has been retrofitted with a fresh 302ci V8, according to the listing. Coupled to a three-speed column-shift auto, the car has received further all new front bushes and ball joint, along with a new power steering pump.

The body is reportedly completely rust free and is coated in new two-pack paint, while the interior presents incredibly well-kept with the only noticeable wear found on the steering wheel.

Overall, the big Fairlane is incredibly clean – and if you’re after a capable weekend cruiser, this car with the bigger 302 might be worth a look!

The car will be sold with Victorian registration, roadworthy and the car’s original plates.

You’ll find the Fairlane in Victoria, and it’s listed for $35,000.
