2010 Ford Falcon FG XR6 Turbo – Today’s Tempter

Ex-Victorian Hwy Patrol car: 198,000ks and in good factory condition

If you’re after a semi-modern Aussie rig to use as a daily, or even as a weekender to take pride in – late-model XR6 Turbo Falcons are rated as one of the best.

The sweet spot in particular is said by many to be the FG-generation.

Under the bonnet, the FG gained a smaller turbo housing which noticeably banished turbo lag present in the preceding generation. Despite the smaller housing, power was up 35kW to a peak output of 270kW with 533Nm pushed out the back wheels at just 2000rpm.

This automatic 2010 FG Falcon XR6 Turbo has a little added history to it – with its original owners being the Victoria Police, and earned its living as a Highway Patrol car.

Finished in Winter white and having been returned to factory condition after its honourable discharge, the car bears 198,000kms with full service records and receipts.

The seller’s listing states that the car has no mechanical faults whatsoever and is accident free with original glass, lights, and paint.

Overall, it’s a relative performance car bargain as the market for this generation hovers anywhere from low-teens to up to high-20s for preserved low-mileage examples.

As the passage of time marches on, will people desire these things like they do for service cars of old? You could nab one early if you’re brave – or just treat it as a cheap performance car like we did to all the BT1 VLs back in the 90s, we’re not your dad!
