1984 Holden WB Statesman – Today’s Tempter

By: Alex Affat, Unique Cars magazine

WB Statesman WB Statesman

Honest two-owner survivor in great condition and reasonably priced

The Iron Lion’s WB Statesman was an all-aussie luxo barge, brought out as Holden’s answer to Ford’s Fairlane and LTD in the full-size premium market.

Underpinned by the HZ, the WB gained a subtle but fresh redesign but further development was stunted by cost minimisation.

This ’84 Statesman DeVille looks like a tremendous surviving example.

With a 308 under the bonnet and an automatic transmission sending power to the back wheels, and a cabin awash with leather in between – the full-size limo harks back to a golden era when Ford and Holden battled over the luxury segment as hard as they did in the performance sector.

This WB Statesman is reportedly a two owner car and looks to be in outstanding condition for its age. There some wear to the side of the driver’s seat, and an aftermarket head unit, but the rest of the cabin is faultless.

All exterior trims look to be in place and paint and chrome throughout look to be more than presentable. The listing does point out that there are a few 20 cent piece sized rust bubbles in the driver’s side lower quarter, but with a little TLC this car could be outstanding!

Or just cruise around as it is!

The car has 275,000kms on it, and is based in Victoria.

It’s listed for $17,000 and you can check out the full listing here!
