Two family ownership with extensive history, and as original as they come.

Holden’s HX arrived in 1976, and brought with it a host of mechanical changes in reaction to new ADR regulations regarding exhaust emissions.

Unfortunately, these changes came at the cost of power output and fuel efficiency. Engine options at the time were comprised of the 202ci inline-six, as well as 253ci and 308ci V8s; with your choice of three or four-speed manuals, three-speed Trimatic or Turbo 400 gearboxes.

HXs could be distinguished on the outside by the new grille and badgeqork, with Premier models receiving a new quad headlight restyle.

To commemorate GM Australia’s 50th Anniversary in 1976, they produced 500 HX Kingswood 50th Anniversary models.

Based on the Kingswood, they gained unique two-tone colour schemes, colour-coded HJ Premier wheels, and were specified similar to the vacationer with bucket seats, venetians, carpets and T-Bar automatic.

This particular HX Kingswood 50th Anniversary seems like quite the find.

The seller claims it to be "one of the best examples" in Australia, coming from two family ownership since new (with documentation), original keys, original rego plates and log books with extensive and "unmatched" service history.

The car is said to be as original as they come, with the only modification was a retro-fitted air conditioner. The engine has never been rebuilt and the ID tags have never been removed, thought the cylinder heads were modified on January 25th 2002 to suit premium unleaded petrol.

The car has covered a genuine 153,700kms since it rolled off the production line in October 1976.

It’s listed for $29,800 and is based in Western Australia.
