1969 Holden HT Kingswood – Today’s Tempter

HT Kingswood WHS HT Kingswood WHS

Offered from single 44-year ownership; 253 V8, special order white-over red with black vinyl roof

Holden’s HT birthed a huge range of vehicles to suit the needs of near every one.

There were sedans, wagons, vans and utes, and of course – the Monaro!

Engine options were equally accommodating; with inline-six options from 169ci to 186ci, plus a 253ci V8 or one of two 5.0lts.

This 1969 HT Kingswood comes to market from single ownership of 44 years.

It’s a "White Hot Special" build, a rare surviving example of Holden’s first ever limited-edition option-package special.

The White Hot Specials were introduced at a six-pot price, to spruik GM’s new 253ci V8.

Based on a Kingswood sedan, the White Hot Special released late in 1969, just four months after the HT arrived. Setting you back $2718, 5000 units were produced and all were sold by the start of 1970.

The cars gained, per the name, Kashmir White duco, with either Antique Gold or Twilight Blue interior trim; as well as a three-speed column-shift manual mated to the then-new 253, power front disc brakes, and GTS wheels.

This car, possibly uniquely, features a factory-ordered red bucket seat interior and a black vinyl roof.

It looks to be in great condition all round, and is a little-known but significant piece of GM-H history.

The car is based in Western Australia, and is listed for $55,000.
