A collectible 4x4? Not as much of a stretch as you might think

Ford’s Bronco Series II was marketed as a compact SUV and built from 1983 to 1990.

The original Bronco remains a cult classic, and while it was manufactured atop its own bespoke chassis – the Bronco II utilised a shortened platform from the Ford Ranger, allowing for greater mechanical and component commonality.

They were a nearly a full foot shorter than Chevrolet’s rival, the C10 pickup – and are a neat inclusion in the burgeoning niche of vintage and collectible fourbies.

Leading this movement are of course your Defender 90s, Toyota Landcruisers, and even early Land Rovers all of which are exploding in price.

As many of these desirable models continue to be priced out of reach, more contemporary big rigs are gaining their ‘classic’ certification by a trickle-down effect.

Early Broncos are already collectible overseas, and all series are incredibly rare sights in Australia. The Bronco too may soon return to relevance as well as Ford is working on a 2020 revival (yet to be confirmed for Australia).

This 1989 Bronco II XLT looks to be in great condition, with the seller stating that the 2.9lt V6 and manual gearbox all "drive A1". It’s got vintage classic looks all bundled in a very useable and functional package.

The two-tone paint looks to remain in great nick as does the velour interior.  Chrome work up front and out back looks to have plenty of shine; and the car presents well overall with 44,100 miles indicated on the odometer.

The Bronco comes with power steering, air conditioning, ‘very good tyres’, cruise control, power windows and sunroof.

The car is based in Victoria, and is listed for $10,500.
