HSV SV3800 HSV SV3800

One of 491 Berlina-based SV3800s, HSV’s first offering for the VN

The SV3800 was HSV’s first attempt at improving the newfangled VN for 1998.

The Berlina-based V6 gained a recalibrated ECU, extractors and a free-flowing exhaust. The car also gained a limited-slip differential, revised springs, shocks and struts, and an 85lt fuel tank.

Externally, the car gained colour-coded wheels, five-piece body it and HSV decals; while inside the cabin saw power windows, unique steering wheel, sports instruments and re-trimmed doors and seats in perforated leather and velour.

Manufactured for just 18 months, HSV produced 491 units of this sporty executive.

This 1988 HSV SV3800 is build number 161.

It presents largely original and in great condition throughout.

It’s covered 126,000kms from new and has had just three owners in its life. The second owner had the car resprayed from bare metal ten years ago, and also re-trimmed the front seats. The current and third owner has reportedly spent thousands of dollars getting the car back on the road after two years laid up.

The driveline is all original, and the car comes with log books, service history, receipts and HSV numbered certificate. All electronics are functioning – and the car has been fitted with a Cobra alarm and immobiliser.

Within the listing, the car is fitted with an aftermarket Momo steering wheel, though it is not stated whether the original piece will come with the car.

The car is based in Queensland, and is listed for $28,000.
