Toyota Cressida Toyota Cressida

Charming 80s Jap cruiser in unbelievable condition

Toyota’s Cressida was a mid-size sedan produced over four generations between 1976 and 1992.

In its native home of Japan, it was known as the Toyota Mark II and was essentially Toyota’s landmark luxury offering in a pre-Lexus era.

The MX63 Cressida was sold in Australia between 1980 and 1984, initially powered by Toyota’s 5M-E engine, a 2.8lt two-valve SOHC unit with electronic fuel injection.

From 1982-1984, the SOHC 5M engine would be superseded by the Supra’s DOHC 5M-GE engine.

Gone was the sleek two-door coupe version of the preceding generation, and in was a thoroughly modern (by 80s standards) boxy design, available in both sedan and wagon guise.

This 1982 Cressida presents as incredibly low-mileage in close to original condition.

It bears the SOHC 5M-E engine mated to an automatic transmission.

The car has reportedly covered just 44,000kms in its life, which is astounding as many of these cars are well north of 2-300 these days.

The interior looks near new, as does the exterior; with all trim, emblems and even the original tool kit and jack in place and presentable.

The listing states that the engine and drivetrain are smooth and in perfect running condition, and that the air conditioning blows cold.

The only modifications are the lowered suspension and new whitewall tyres. Though those are easy fixes should anyone want to return it to factory specification.

It’s a bit of an oddball that you might not think of as a classic, but we’ve never seen a Cressida in this condition, and we imagine it would be a great robust, reliable and luxurious cruiser!

The car is based in New South Wales and comes with 12 months rego.

The car is listed for $9,950 but the seller has stated he is open to fair offers.
