1981 Ford Falcon XD – Today’s Tempter

XD Falcon XD Falcon

Ex-pursuit vehicle with rebuilt 351 and new paint

Ford’s XD Falcon was a stark departure from the preceding curvaceous ‘coke bottle’ cars, but in its day was lauded for its forward and modern styling. It even won a local design award at the time.

In production from 1979 to 1982, it landed in showrooms shortly after Holden axed the beloved Kingswood and downsized to the Commodore amidst a global oil scare.

Ford famously stuck to their full-size guns with the XD, and was rewarded with healthy sales that topped 5000 units a month.

Underneath the newfangled box body, the car was underpinned by a fair share of XC mechanicals.

This 1981 XD Falcon is reportedly an ex-pursuit vehicle, and bears its matching numbers 351 Cleveland and four-speed manual.

The car has been repainted, and fitted with a new exhaust and front spotlights.

Overall, it looks like a very clean example of a much sought-after V8 XD.

The car is based in Perth, Western Australia; and is listed for $40,000.
