One-owner 5.0lt VB Wagon, "genuine survivor" and all original

The VB Commodore famously heralded in a new era for the Roaring Lion in the late-70s, when they put the beloved Kingswood out to pasture and brought in the smaller Opel-sourced offering.

While Ford’s full-size XD stole the limelight in those earlier days, the VB kicked off an era for GMH’s most enduring nameplate, and birthed some spectacular cars along the way.

Amidst the oil-crisis of the time, most V8s were found under the snouts of higher-spec SL/Es. Standard Commodores with V8s would have been rare when new, even more so these days.

This VB Commodore Wagon was built just one year into production, in 1979.

It, however, is fitted with the factory original 5.0lt V8 and three-speed auto; and is reportedly all unrestored and in matching numbers condition.

The listing indicates that the car comes from single ownership and has no history or rust or accident repair.

It remains unmodified as a "genuine survivor" and is said to have always been kept in a garage.

Overall, it looks the part, with some signs of age but no real fatal flaws visible. The interior looks factory and is free of tears and rips, though in unrestored condition, shows some signs of sun fade and creasing.

The exterior looks equally as honest, with a single piece of trim missing behind the rear wheel on the driver’s side. It’s got a set of roof racks and sun visor as period accessories and the rest of it all looks to be there.

The car comes with all books and comprehensive service history.

It’s based in Queensland and is listed for $25,000.
