Mostly original, with recent respray, and a 351ci V8 with FMX auto

The XR-XY generation shaped the Aussie Falcon legend that lasts to this day.

It’s these early V8 cars, often in GT disguise that fetch the headlines – and the big bucks – but what’s left for the average joe?

Those not concerned with 100% originality, new old stock parts and concours restorations; but just love the cars and want a weekend classic in the garage.

Well Aussie 70s family rigs are also heavily on the rise, but the buy in for examples like this 1970 XW Falcon are still what could be called ‘attainable’.

The XW has recently been repainted in its original Imperial Burgundy hue, and presents in a purported ‘rust free’ state with original floor pans and in solid running condition.

It’s powered by a 351ci V8 mated to an FMX automatic, with the sellers stating that it runs and drives beautifully.

Underneath, the car has also gained a brand new fuel tank and has had brakes front and back redone. Inside, the black vinyl interior is mostly original though the front seats have been retrimmed.

Overall, the car looks clean in photos, with the interior hard to fault; and spotless jams and engine bay. There is a small tear in the boot lining, though overall is a small matter and an easy fix.

The car is on offer via Undercover Classic Cars in Queensland and is listed for $48,500.
