Matching numbers, reported rust-free Los Angeles car with plenty of new parts

Ford’s Mustang was an instant-hit that transcended into a lasting icon. Full of 60s optimism, the Mustang brought personal sports motoring to the mainstream, and made it desirable.

It famously received 22,000 factory orders on opening day and almost 1.3 million were produced in the first three years of manufacturing.

This 1968 Ford Mustang is factory specified with the base 289ci two-barrel V8 and automatic transmission.

It’s originally a US-delivered car, built in San Jose and sold in Los Angeles California.

The car looks to be in good condition, and is reportedly rust free and all numbers matching, with all details factory correct to the data plate.

The green ‘Stang has been given a light freshen up according to the listing and presents with new paint in original colour, new chrome bumpers, grill and badges; new windscreen, new tyres; and new headliner, carpet, front seat covers and foam inside.

The rest of the car is close to original however, with original sheet metal floors, factory tinted windows and all functioning electronics.

The car remains in left hand drive but looks very presentable.

It’s based in Melbourne and listed for $35,950.
