1982 Jaguar JX Series 3 – Today’s Tempter

Jaguar’s XJ enjoyed an extensive 24 years of production, with the Series 1 launching in 1968, and Series 3 production ending in 1992.

It’s an iconic British saloon with just enough modernity in its later years, blended with its classic roots.

The Series 3 update arrived in 1979, built upon the long wheelbase model for increased cabin space, and a light restyle from the pens at Pininfarina.

The S3 Jag received bigger bumpers, revised roofline with bigger glasshouse, recessed door handles, new grille and the deletion of front ¼ window vents.

Three engine options were available, with a 5.2lt V12 taking top spot; and followed by a fuel-injected 4.2lt inline-six and a carburetted 3.4lt inline-six.

This 1982 Jaguar XJ features the fuel-injected 4.2lt inline-six and a highly desirable five-speed manual.

The listing states that the owner of this car took exceptional and fastidious care of it, and it shows at least on appearance’s sake.

Having undergone a light restoration; the listing purports that the owner replaced or refurbed any mechanical or cosmetic component needed, working from bumper to bumper.

The paint boasts a deep lustre and the interior looks near-new, furthermore the engine bay and undercarriage are hard to fault. The listing indicates an odometer reading of 226,120kms.
