Early Commodore is a bit of a find

1979 VB Commodore SL/E - today's timewarp tempter
Holden VB Commodore SL/E

If this car looks as good in the flesh as it does in the photos, it could be quite a find.

The sad truth is most of the SL/Es from back in 1979 went through a series of owners, deteriorating aloing the way, and were rarely treasured for their entire lives. This one looks like it may have been.

This was built pretty early in the history of the Commodore nameplate - just one year in - and would have been a pricey car thanks to the upmarket SL/E spec.

Powered by Holden's 253ci (4.2lt) V8, it runs a Trimatic transmission and luxo features such as air-conditioning (not coinnected at the moment) and power steering.

Though it would act like a giant wind sock, we love the period metal sun visor on the top edge of the windscreen.

Overall the car seems to present well and is on the market for $40,000 - probably still substantially less than the cost of a resto. It's located in NSW
