1962 Porsche 356B T6 twin grille roadster

Sold: $352,000
Shannons

A band of enthusiastic bidders from Australia and around the world drove the price of this rare Porsche 356B T6 'Twin Grille' Roadster to an Australian auction record for the model. In stunning condition throughout after undergoing a full restoration the price achieved was $100,000 above the pre-auction estimate. The 356 was the car that put Porsche on the map and the price confirms the global market desirability of early model Porsches, especially a model like this of which just 248 were built.

1962 Chrysler Valiant S Series

Sold: $29,000
Shannons

Rarely seen on our roads is Chrysler's early Australian Valiant, based on its US counterpart that lobbed here in 1962. Its 225ci slant-six engine blew the Holdens and Fords into the weeds and became an instant success. This restored – from a non-running vehicle – and ready to drive is period correct with push-button auto. Given that these early Valiant’s have a strong following this was a bargain.

1976 Jaguar XJ-C V12 coupe

Sold: $22,000
Shannons

When launched in the late 60s the XJ Jag was hailed one of the most beautiful sedans of all time. Built in very limited numbers, this coupe is breathtakingly gorgeous.

This Australian delivered example is one of few left globally and very rare here. In original and complete condition with its Lucas fuel-injected 5.3-litre V12 engine and auto gearbox it’s ready for a resto to return it to its full glory.

1974 Citroen D Special sedan

Sold: $33,000

One of the world’s most significant cars, the futuristic D Series Citroen was ahead of its time. It rode superbly thanks to its hydro-pneumatic suspension. Hydraulics also
controlled the clutch, transmission, power steering and brakes. So if it failed you were in deep merde. This two-owner beauty that has had a body resto was offered with no
reserve.
