Ford Australia is bringing in just 700 Bullitt Mustangs, all individually numbered and finished in Dark Highland Green, with a six-speed manual and gloss-black 19" wheels.

The Bullitt Mustang will go on sale in October, and make its Australian public debut just days ahead of the Bullitt movie’s 50th anniversary at Motorclassica 2018.

Ford Australia’s President and CEO, Kay Hart said: "we’re so pleased that enthusiasts will be able to see Mustang Bullitt in the metal for the very first time at Motorclassica".

"The event is a must-see, and we’re delighted to be part of what’s a cornerstone event on the automotive calendar, and a great way to introduce Mustang Bullitt to Australia".

The car’s appearance pays tribute to the 1968 Mustang GT Fastback piloted by Steve Mcqueen in the original Bullitt movie. The Bullitt Mustang features the 5.0lt 345kW V8 mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Along with the exclusive dark green paint, the car gains Torq-Thrust style wheels, red Brembo brake calipers, along with an individually numbered plaque, cue-ball style gear knob and Bullitt Badging inside the cabin.

The new Ford Mustang has been a runaway success in Australia, leading the sales charts for passenger cars in both 2016 and 2017.

Ford will be hosting an exhibit under the Ford Performance branding at the 9th ever Motorclassica event, with special guests including Formula One world champion Alan Jones.

Bullitt Mustang deliveries will begin in October, with a manufacture list price of $73,688 (including LCT).

Along with the Bullitt, punters will be able to gaze upon 550 classic and collectible cars at Motorclassica 2018, and other shiny new metal will be on display from the likes of McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Lamborghini, and even the new Renault Alpine.

Tickets will be available at the door of Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition Building, or can be purchased online at motorclassica.com.au
