Burns & Co Phil Munday collection results
Curated selection of prolific Phil Munday collection crosses the block
This weekend saw the cornerstone sale for Roaring Lion fans, as Burns & Co took to sale a number of incredible cars on behalf of prolific car collector, Phil Munday.
From V8 Supercars to Kombis, and plenty of blue-chip Holdens in between, a number of spectacular cars found loving new homes, and some did not.
One of the standout lots we took immense interest in was a 1988 HSV SVCC VL, one of four VLs built in F20 SV specification, and one of only two "CC" or ‘company cars’. It’s the only manual turbo SV CC built, and was the former car of John Harvey. With 146,000kms on the odo, the car was sold for an ultimate selling price of $30,500. We reckon that’s bargain for a unique example.
Lots 6a and 6b both sold for $26,000 a piece, the first being an L34-spec WB Caprice with a 5.0lt V8 and automatic transmission; and the latter being a tidy VH Commodore SL/E also an automatic with a 5.0lt V8.
Lot 12, a 1971 LC Torana GTR passed in, as did lot 12a, a 2006 CV8Z Monaro with just 395kms.
One of the bargains of the sale was lot 17, a 1962 Fiat 500 Bambino which sold for just $10,500.
A matching set of final-run VF Commodores, a Holden Director, Commodore Motorsport edition and a Magnum Ute all failed to sell, eventually passing in. All were white and boasted delivery kilometres – all were build #23 of their respective limited runs.
Lot 30, number 157 HDT VC Brock Commodore sold for $79,000, and featured white-over-red colours, manual transmission and just 78,121kms on the odo. It was the second most expensive vehicle sold, behind lot 4 – a full rebuilt 1934 Ford Fordor Sedan and Lot 28, a 1965 FJ Panel Van.
