The first Brock car and one of the most collectible Aussie hero cars around

With legendary names like Peter Brock and HSV’s John Harvey attached to it, it’s no surprise how desirable VC Brocks have become in over the past few years.

Looking at prices over the car’s life is even more staggering.

When new, the HDT VC would have set you back around $19,800 for a manual, or $20,000 for an auto. A top-spec SL/E of the same vintage with a manual 308 would have costed just $12,850.

Their biggest dip was the early 2000s, with our 2001 value guide pinning a decent one at around $14,000.

In 2013 there was a small spike to a solid $60,000. These days – we’re talking $85,000 for a solid car, with exceptional cars in rare specification commanding north of six figures.

This VC Brock, number 348 of 500, is on offer via the Gosford Classic Car Museum.

From our office sleuthing, it looks to be the car that sold at Shannon’s Melbourne Autumn auction back in April – Lot #20, selling for $60,000.

Gosford states that the car remains in original and outstanding condition – pointing out a life of "meticulous maintenance and care".

Included in the sale will be a large history file containing documentation from HDT and previous ownership history.

Gosford has listed the car at $85,000, you can check out the full listing here!
