1975 Chrysler Valiant VK – Today’s Tempter
Affordable entry into 70s chrome-bumper family sedan ownership
The VK Valiant arrived in October 1975 as a facelifted VJ with new grills, tail lights and badging.
Ultimately a rather restrained restyling exercise, the VK was intended to be a more radical redesign though was eventually throttled back due to financial constraints.
The six-cylinder engines gained a new Carter carby and power-boosted brakes. Engine options ranged through 215, 245 and 265 inline-sixes, with a 318 and 360 V8 topping out the range.
Transmission options included a three-speed or four-speed manual, or a three-speed auto.
This VK Valiant is reportedly a first-month production build, specified with a 245 inline-six and the three-speed automatic.
Details within the ad are light, however looks to have been refreshed at the very least if not restored.
At $22,000 it’s a compelling package as a classic 70s chrome-bumper family car, and with a white roof over deep brown interior – it would make an awesome weekend cruiser.
The car is based in Western Australia and could be a capable cruiser as is, or could the perfect base for a showstopper.
