A South African flavoured VT SS with just 18,000kms since new!

The VT upon its release in 1998 was claimed by Wheels Magazine as; "the most significant new Holden since the original 48-215".

The VT Commodore was born of the biggest design, engineering and development program in two decades by Holden, and was well and truly a world class car.

While the Commodore and Falcon had always been a cornerstone of Aussie motoring, offering unparalleled value in regards to packaging and performance, the VT moved the posts even further and gained refinement, quality and safety.

It was so impressive that it won Wheels’ Car of the Year award in 1998.

The VT SS is one of our bang for buck picks, with neat used examples available for around $10,000.

They’re all getting on in kilometres now though, and anything under six-figures would be pretty darn spectacular.

That makes this VT rather special.

A 2000 model built as a Chevrolet Lumina SS – for the South African market.

The seller claims that the car was bought directly from the GMH factory before being exported.

South African market Holdens are a niche sect of collectors, and certainly don’t come up very often.

Reportedly this VT SS is absolutely perfect and still in original condition inside and out.

Built with a 5.7lt LS1 and four-speed auto, the seller claims the car is in showroom condition.

It’s listed for $37,000 which is a lot for a VT – but this is  a rare international-market spec, and has only travelled 18,000kms.

If you’re a discerning collector whose fancy is tickled by this South African SS, the car is based in Bunbury WA, and you can check out the full listing here!
