Mini scores $50k at auction

Full Shannons results. High expectations from vendors foil some strong bids

This Mini scored an impressive $50,000

Last weekend’s Shannons auction proved that there is still plenty of money floating around in the local classic car market, however some vendors may be a little optimistic.

Some Brit and Euro machinery did well – a 1970 Mini MkII got a stand-out result of $50,000, while an unrestored Jaguar XK120 roadster scored a very solid $128,000.

A Ferrari Dino was the star lot, but the solid $460,000 top bid wasn’t quite enough to push it over reserve.

Despite the USA classic car market being a little flat at the moment, there is still an appetite for premium machinery. However a bid of $310,000 didn’t reach reserve on a 1979 Boss Mustang 429.
