V8 drop-top for a bargain hatchback price

The Jaguar XK remains one of the brand’s most popular models in recent times. First introduced in 1996 with the X100 XK8, it was a long and handsome two-door grand tourer with the golden formula of a V8 up front with power sent to the rear.

Originally, the sole model offered was the XK8 available as a two-door coupe or a two-door convertible, utilising the 4.0lt DOHC AJ-V8 engine capable of 209kW and 375Nm.

1998 saw the arrival of the XKR, the supercharged version of the naturally aspirated XK8, which gained a Mercedes-Benz 5G-tronic five-speed gearbox.

This 1998 Jaguar X100 convertible is the supercharged XKR variant, presented in stunning blue with cream leather interior.

This two-owner car has travelled 204,651kms in its 20 years of life, the seller states it has been regularly maintain by Jaguar Specialists and drives beautifully.

The seller emphasises the convertible roof in perfect condition, however the car is showing some signs of age in a few places.

Notably, the driver’s seat is noticeably worn and cracking with one tear in the bolster, in contrast to the rest of the interior which looks to be in fair condition. The seller also states there are some stone chips on the front however the car still presents well in photos and is likely just the natural result of years on the road.

The car is based in Queensland for $23,000, and could be a great buy for the top-down V8 experience without the exorbitant outlay.
