Charger designer honoured with SMH obit

Former Chrysler designer and one of the two people who penned the iconic Charger hardtop, Brian Smyth, has been recognised with an obituary in today's Fairfax newspapers, including the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.

Smyth worked alongside senior American designer Bob Hubbach to develop the shape of the car, while engineers Chris Michelmore and Ken Paddich handled the development.

The whole exercise was done quickly and on a shoestring budget, despite which the car went on to win the Wheels magazine Car of the Year gong for 1971.
