Car is being offered just as the build is completed

It's a little unusual for a car to be offered to the market literally as the paint dries after a big build, but that's what is happening in this case.

If you were comfortable with the quality of the work, it has the attraction that you're getting what is effectively a new car.

Tribute or replicas of local hero models were for a long time highly controversial. However that no longer seems to be the case.

As the cost of real GT-HOs of this generation climbed well into investment/unaffordable territory, we've seen the market accept the alternatives and pay good money for them.

The seller of this car in WA is asking $95,000, which is at the upper end of the tribute car market. However the fact is doing a car to a good standard is an expensive exercise, particularly given you're starting with an XY, which even in basic form is in fairly big demand.

Spec for this one includes an auto and the seller has a big list of what's been done as part of a rebuild.

The seller notes the car is not quite complete and will be the week after Easter.

You can see the listing here.

Unique Cars mag built its own GT-HO replica back in 2010 - see the John Bowe road test.
