1976 Ford Fairmont XB GS – Today’s Blue Oval Tempter
Mulberry Marvellous
The Ford Falcon XB comes from an era when Aussie muscle cars really were in their prime.
Released in September of 1974, the XB followed on from its predecessor, the XA Falcon, and brought with it minor aesthetic updates such as a restyled front end which aimed at making the XB look more aggressive.
The XB was made available to customers in a number of different body styles that comprised a four-door sedan, five-door wagon, two-door ute and a two-door panel van. Plus there was the dramatic two-door hardtop.
Power was derived from a number of different engines that included a 3.3lt or 4.1lt inline six-cylinder motors plus 4.9lt or 5.8lt V8s.
The shove from these motors was sent to the XB’s rear wheels via either a three or four-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission.
This particular XB is a ’76 Fairmont four-door sedan and comes equipped with the Grand Sport Rally Pack (GS), six-cylinder motor and the three-speed automatic transmission.
According to the seller, the vehicle has travelled an original 172,347 kilometres from new and is in very good, unrestored condition.
The XB GS is $30,000 and anyone interested in this unique Aussie classic can view the full listing here.
