Designed by Jack Telnack and replacing the fabled XY Falcon, the XA Ford Falcon was released in March of 1972 and stayed in production until the end of September 1973.

The XA marked the introduction of an entirely new generation of Ford Falcon and as such, was a completely different vehicle to the one that preceded it.

The XA was also the first Ford Falcon in the moniker’s local history to be both designed and manufactured Down Under.

Customers could choose from a number of different body styles to have their XA in, and these included a four-door sedan, five-door wagon, two-door hardtop coupe, two-door ute and a two-door panel van.

In addition, the XA Falcon’s model range was extensive and comprised the Falcon Futura, Falcon 500, Fairmont, GT and the prolific GT-HO Phase IV.

Customers could also option their Falcon or Fairmont with the Grand Sport Rally Pack (GS Pack) which included rally stripes, 12-slot steel wheels and a full GT instrument cluster.

Power was derived from a powerful collective of motors such as a 3.3lt and 4.1lt inline six-cylinder and a 4.1lt, 4.9lt and herculean 5.8lt V8.

The drive from these engines was sent to the XA Falcon’s rear wheels via either a three or four-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission.

This particular XA Falcon is a ’73 GT four-door sedan and comes equipped with the stonking 5.8lt bent-eight motor and three-speed automatic transmission.

According to the seller, this particular GT is a very special example indeed, as its options and configuration make it a genuine one-of-one vehicle.

Finished in factory Jewel Green with a contrasting Saddle vinyl interior, this GT’s factory options include a radio delete, seat belts, laminated tint band windscreen, black bonnet, dual mirrors, quarter vent windows, tinted side and rear glass and a pre-delivery wax.

The seller adds that the immaculate XA GT has travelled a very low 41,313 kilometres from new and has undergone a faithful and detailed restoration.
