You're unlikely to see two of these parked together down at the local mall.

Unlilkely as it may seem AMC (or American Motors Corporation) has a bit of history in Australia. Names such as Hudson (an AMC brand) were part of the local landscape and, more recently, some AMC product was even assembled here.

For example, we screwed together CKD versions of the AMX around 1969 and can read the full story on that here.

Much more recently, local race legend Jim Richards has campaigned a Javelin in Touring Car Masters, with considerable success. See the story of the build of his gen-two racer at this link.

Nevertheless, seeing cars like the Javelin advertised here is still pretty rare and we suspect this one, if it checks out, has the potential to be solid value for money.

It's a 1971 version, which makes it second generation, made at a time when AMC was a force to be reckoned with on the race track.

This example runs the premium engine of the range, a 401ci (6.6lt) V8 which in the day claimed around 335 horses. A four-speed manual or three-speed auto were the options and this car has the latter.

It's been wrapped in Trans-Am warpaint and the owner lists a lot of reconditioning work.

Priced at $45,000, it's in NSW and can be found here.
