HSV W1 fetches $251k at auction

A bid of $200,000 bought the Blue Meanie.

A Ford XY GT attracted a top bid of $230,000.

Aussie muscle car icons score solid prices

Yesterdays Lloyds classic car auction featured a collection of ultra low-mile HSVs, along with a handful of other local classics. Top bid of $251k went to the GTSR W1, substantially above its new price and tending to confirm that values on this model  of which 300 were made  are holding up.

As for the others, a winning bid of $230k went to an XY Falcon GT, in an unusual colour combo with auto, underpinning the ongoing march of prices for XYs.

Also notable was a VK Blue Meanie Commodore fetching $200k for a particularly good low-mileage example.

There was also some good value in there. For example Lot 60, the 2015 HSV ClubSport R8 in white, seemed like solid buying at $62,500.
