1976 Holden HJ Kingswood – Today’s Opulent Tempter
A very nice looking example
The Holden HJ Kingswood is the second iteration of the second generation of one of Australia’s most notable automotive monikers.
Replacing the HQ Kingswood, the HJ was released in October of 1974 and stayed in production until July 1976.
Changes made over its predecessor were mostly cosmetic in nature, with the HJ scoring a new front end design aimed at making it more angular and purposeful in appearance.
The HJ Kingswood could be had with one of three engines; a 3.3lt inline six-cylinder or a 4.2lt or 5.0lt V8.
The shove from these collective powertrains was sent to the HJs rear wheels via either a three or four-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission.
Body styles that the HJ could be had in included a four-door sedan, five-door wagon, two-door ute and a two-door panel van.
This particular HJ Kingswood is a ’76 model sedan and comes equipped with the 3.3lt inline six-cylinder and three-speed automatic transmission.
According to the seller, the HJ has travelled a genuine 151,000 kilometres from new and has not rust at all.
The HJ Kingswood is $19,000 and anyone interested in this lovely Aussie cruiser can view the full listing here.
