Commercial thumper!

The Holden HZ was a range of large, family and commercially oriented vehicles built between October 1977 and April 1980.

Replacing the HX, the HZ was, cosmetically at least, nothing more than a minor styling update.

However, while it may not have looked that dissimilar from the car it replaced, the HZ certainly drove better, as it received Holden’s ‘Radial Tuned Suspension’, which was said to vastly improve the cars ride and handling characteristics.

The HZ was made available to customers in a number of different body styles that comprised a four-door sedan, five-door wagon, two-door ute, two-door panel van and a two-door cab chassis.

Power was derived from either a 3.3lt inline six-cylinder or a 4.2lt or 5.0lt V8 and these donks sent power to the HZs rear wheels via either a three or four-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission.

This particular HZ is a ’78 One Tonner Kingswood and, according to the seller, the vehicle has 508,368 kilometres showing on the odometer.

The seller adds that the vehicle as a number of choice modifications made to improve the vehicles performance.

These modifications include a five-speed Supra manual gearbox being fitted, extractors with a 2.5-inch single exhaust system and a Holley 600 carburettor with an Edelbrock manifold.

The HZ is $23,000 and anyone interested in this classic Aussie muscle car can view the full listing here.
