Last of the breed

The Holden Commodore Director is a limited edition model of the final iteration of arguably Australia’s greatest automotive marque.

The Director was unveiled alongside two other special models: the ‘Motorsport’ edition and ‘Magnum’ ute edition.

The Director also aims to pay homage to the infamous original car of the same name, which was the vehicle responsible for Holden severing ties with HDT and Peter Brock.

Just 360 examples of the VF.II Director will be built and, as is the way with most limited-run models of a performance-oriented nature, all have been sold, with 110 offered to Holden dealers and past and present employees and the other 250 being offered to the general public.

Power comes from the heroic LS3 6.2lt V8 which produces 304kW and 570Nm, and this prodigious shove is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.

In addition, the Director also scored a host of performance enhancing modifications over the standard Calais V, on which it is based.

These performance parts included magnetorheological dampers, unique subframe bush, unique powertrain cooling, two-piece, cross-drilled floating brake rotors and exclusive 20-inch forged allow wheels.

This particular VF.II Director is build number 66 and is finished in Phantom Black. The seller adds that the vehicle is brand new and has never been driven.

The Director is $79,900 and anyone interested in this limited edition piece of Aussie automotive history can view the full listing here.
