Five-speed and sure to please

The VP HSV range is based off the Holden VP Commodore, which is the second iteration of the second generation of arguably Australia’s greatest automotive marque.

The VP HSVs were built between September 1991 and September 1993, and in that short lifespan an absolute plethora of models, some limited, were released into the market.

These models included the Clubsport, Sport Wagon, SV91, Maloo, Senator, Senator 5000i, Nitron, GTS, SV93 Statesman, Formula, Clubsport 5000i and many others.

The HSV powertrain offerings across the range were limited to either a 3.8lt V6 or the heroic, Aussie-built 5.0lt V8, although the bent-eight unit was available in different states of tune depending on the model.

The shove from these two donks was sent to the rear wheels via either a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual transmission.

In addition, the VP HSVs saw the introduction of independent rear suspension to the model range and a limited-slip diff came as standard across the board.

This particular VP HSV is a ’93 Maloo and, according to the seller, the vehicle has travelled an original 237,000 kilometres from new.

The seller adds that it is a one owner vehicle with a full service history, is completely original and has been garaged its whole life.

The Maloo is $13,499 and anyone interested in this classic Aussie performance ute can view the full listing here
