For a time there, Australian car nuts had a love-hate relationship with the R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R. The all-wheel-drive monster defeated the local V8 hero cars at the annual Bathurst enduro, which caused considerable consternation.

Not that it was a walk-over. What many don't appreciate is the phenomenal effort Fred Gibson's crew put into getting that car on the podium.

as road cars, the turbocharged six-cylinder rocketships were expensive in their day and a very sophisticated piece of machinery.

They're now keenly sought both as road and race cars - we covered the revival of one not so long ago in this feature.

The car you see here is a 1993 five-speed manual, which the owner says has under 80,000km on the clock.

It's running the full body kit along with a couple of aftermarket upgrades. Priced at $45,000, it's based in Vic.
