Mater offers excellent petrol head lottery for a great cause

The Mater Cars for Cancer lottery is upon us again and their latest offering will have bent-eight enthusiasts chomping at the bit for tickets to this excellent competition.

For those of you that haven’t heard of it before, the Mater Foundation is a community-based fundraising organisation that supports the work of Mater Hospitals, Mater Education and Mater Research.

So, all the proceeds raised from this lottery go towards cancer research and, as Mater themselves put it, a world potentially free from cancer and its devastating impact.

Now, to the cars up for grabs: It’ going to be a hard decision for the lucky winner, because there’s the choice of either a Ford Shelby Mustang Super Snake or a Mercedes AMG C63 S Sedan.

The Shelby Mustang Super Snake is the epitome of American muscle, with a massive 5.0lt supercharged V8 that pumps out a whopping 485kW (650hp) to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Mercedes AMG C63 S is the quintessential Germanic muscle car from the crack team of boffins in Affalterbach. The sports sedan is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0lt V8 that churns out 375kW (503hp) to a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

Tickets start from just $30, and with just 25,000 tickets on offer in total, Mater reckons your odds are pretty good.

The lottery will be drawn on Wednesday July 12 and anyone who’s keen to grab a ticket for a great cause can check out the cars for cancer website.
