The HSV VP Clubsport was produced between 1991 and 1993, and was the second iteration of the Clubsport moniker.

Successor to the VN Clubsport, the VP brought with it a number of upgrades that were both cosmetic and mechanical in nature.

Arguably the biggest step forward made by the VP over its predecessor was the adoption of independent rear suspension with semi-trailing arms, which was said to vastly improve the vehicle’s dynamics.

Power came from Holden’s iconic locally built 5.0lt V8 that pushed out 180kW and 400Nm.

This oomph was sent to the rear wheels via either a four-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual.

Standard features that the VP came equipped with included 16-inch alloy wheels, four-speaker sound system with a radio and cassette player, air conditioning, fog lights, leather-clad Momo steering wheel, power mirrors, car alarm and a limited slip diff.

This particular VP Clubsport is a ’92 model with the four-speed automatic gearbox and, according to the seller, the vehicle has travelled 383,000 kilometres from new.

The seller adds that drivetrain is running fine however the clear coat is fading and is in need of a respray.

The VP Clubsport is $8500 and anyone interested in this locally built performance sedan can view the full listing here
