A lot of car for the money

The C3 Chevrolet Corvette is the third generation of what surely has to be one of the most the iconic American sports cars ever made.

Produced between 1968 and 1982, the C3 replaced the outgoing C2 Corvette that ended its production in 1967.

Over the C3s lifetime, a quite frankly absurd amount of different engine choices were available depending on the year the vehicle was manufactured and the type of specification chosen by the customer.

These engines included:

  • 5.0lt LG4 small-block V8
  • 5.4lt L75 small-block V8
  • 5.4lt L79 small-block V8
  • 5.7lt L46 small-block V8
  • 5.7lt L48 small-block V8
  • 5.7lt L81 small-block V8
  • 5.7lt L82 small-block V8
  • 5.7lt L83 small block V8
  • 5.7lt LT-1 small block V8
  • 5.7lt ZQ3 small block V8
  • 7.0lt L36 big-block V8
  • 7.0lt L68 big-block V8
  • 7.0lt L71 big-block V8
  • 7.0lt L72 big-block V8
  • 7.0lt L88 big-block V8
  • 7.0lt L89 big-block V8
  • 7.0lt ZL1 big-block V8
  • 7.4lt LS4 big-block V8
  • 7.4lt LS5 big-block V8
  • 7.4lt LS6 big-block V8

This plethora of donk choice could be mated to either a three-speed manual, four-speed manual, three-speed automatic or four-speed automatic transmission, once again depending on date of manufacture and vehicle spec.

This particular Corvette is a 1978 model, which makes it that little bit more special as ’78 was the Corvettes 25-year anniversary. As a result, all ’78 Corvettes came with bespoke silver anniversary nose and fuel-filler cap badging.

The seller of the Corvette adds that this ‘Vette has an original 5.7lt V8 donk under the bonnet that has been fully rebuilt less than 5000 kilometres ago to L82 standards.

Judging from the photos, the vehicle appears to be in good condition and the seller adds that the vehicle has 69,000 miles reading on the odometer.

The seller is asking $26,900 for the ‘Vette and anyone interested in this American muscle cruiser can view the full listing here.
