Bent-8 blitz at Shannons

Shannons’ Winter Classic Auction at its Melbourne premises is shaping up to be an absolute must for V8 fans.

For a start, it is offering up a stunning 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 in Daytona yellow with contrasting black racing stripes. It’s packing a 302ci V8 with optional cross ram air intake and four-speed manual box with a Hurst shifter. This very vehicle featured in issue 368 of Unique Cars Magazine as the cover car.

Shannons has also got a bevy of classic Aussie V8 muscle that includes a modified 1969 Holden HT Monaro, an original 1980 5.0lt HDT VC Commodore with books and a 1971 Holden HQ Monaro hardtop coupe with a 253ci V8 and four-speed manual transmission.

It’s not all about the iron lion - Ford fans can rejoice as well.

For a start there is a great looking 1976 Ford XB GT hardtop coupe in Yellow Blaze with contrasting black cloth and vinyl interior. The coupe features a 351ci Cleveland V8, T-bar auto transmission, black vinyl roof, five-slot wheels, power steering, power windows and air conditioning.

Another on the auction block is a 1973 Ford XA Falcon with the GS (Grand Sport) rally pack and the highly desirable drivetrain combo of 351ci V8 and 3-speed auto with a 9-inch diff.

Others include a 1971 ZC Fairlane 500 sedan, 2007 RMC replica Cobra with 302ci V8 and five-speed Tremec manual transmission and a 1978 Ford XC Falcon 500 sedan.

The car with the largest capacity isn’t an Aussie or American muscle car, however. That accolade goes to a very nice-looking 1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL sedan with, you guessed it, a whopping 6.9lt V8.

There are plenty of other great looking motors up for grabs and you can check out the full catalogue here
