Looks pretty mint

Take a look at this this one! It’s as if this Laser rolled off the production line, straight into a time machine and has just been ejected into the present day.

Seriously though, when was the last time you saw one of these things on the road in such good condition, or for that matter, at all?

The Laser was introduced in Australia 1981 and was the replacement to the Ford Escort. It was essentially a re-badged Mazda 323, which wasn’t that surprising considering that Ford had purchased a 25 per cent stake in Mazda in 1979.

The Laser was assembled at Ford’s Homebush plant, and was available as either a 3-door or 5-door hatch. It was also available in sedan guise, however these were originally badged as a Ford Meteor.

The compact hatch was offered in three levels of trim spec in Australia: L, GL and Ghia. The Laser came with either a 1.3lt or 1.5lt 4-cylinder motor, and could be mated to a 4-speed manual or 3-speed automatic gearbox.

This particular Laser is a 5-door hatch Ghia with the 1.5lt donk. As aforementioned, it appears to be in fairly remarkable condition given its age, and has been with the one family since new.

According to the seller it has a genuine 177,000 kilometres on the clock and drives extremely well. In addition, this Laser comes with its original velour interior and tool kit and also has the added bonus of working air-conditioning.

Price for the Laser is $3000, which doesn’t sound too bad for a 36 year-old minter. If it has tickled your fancy, you can view the full listing here.
