FPV Ute with a thumping V8 for less than $15k, what’s not to like?

Launched in 2003, the BA FPV Pursuit Ute was a pretty compelling package for those looking for a two-door Aussie muscle car that happened to have a decent payload.

Under the bonnet the two-door bruiser packed a burly 5.4L, quad-cam ‘Boss’ V8 that chucked out 290kW and a thumping 520Nm of torque.

That whopping power and torque was transferred to the rear wheels via either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox.

Rather worryingly, the Pursuit Ute doesn’t come with any form of traction control, which is pretty hilarious considering the amount of power and lack of weight over the rear end. Expect to shell out for rear tyres more often than normal if you’re an enthusiast.

The FPV Ute also got some significant styling tweaks compared to its regular counterparts. It came with the front spoiler, lights and splitter from the FPV GT and also got upgraded side skirts, rear wing, five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels and a power bulge on the bonnet.

This particular Pursuit has, according to the seller, had quite a few enhancements to improve the performance and dynamics of the vehicle.

These improvements include:  Brembo brake upgrade, 19-inch semi-forged wheels, lowered king springs, stainless steel Pacemaker extractors, high-flow cats and a full stainless steel exhaust system with 3-inch quad exhaust tips, cold air induction kit, upgraded throttle body and recently replaced bushes, engine mounts and ball joints.

The seller reckons that these mods have led to power being increased to a meaty 314kW, which, if correct, is quite impressive.

The seller is asking a mere $14,999 for all this performance and if you’re interested in this practical tyre fryer then you can view the full listing here
