Someone call the Cops! This Charger's stolen our heart

Surely one of the most iconic Aussie chrome bumper coupes, the Chrysler Valiant Charger was and still is a brilliant car.

The VJ was the second iteration of the Australian Charger, and was produced from March 1973 through to September 1975.

It was marketed as more of a grand tourer than its sportier older brother, the VH, and this was evident when Chrysler withdrew from the Australian Touring Car Championship at the end of the 1972 season.

This particular VJ is something a little bit more special than your average Charger however; it is in fact an original K10 ex-police pursuit Charger.

According to the owner, the vehicle had been fully kitted out for highway patrol use and had the following options:

The E33 265 cubic-inch 6-cylinder motor, D-20 4-speed floor-shift manual gearbox, 2.92 sure grip rear axle, track pack, front sway bar, Charger sports pack instrument panel, dual horns, three spoke steering wheel, 55amp alternator, heavy-duty suspension, front and rear mudflaps, driving lamps, insect screen, mesh sun visor, fire extinguisher and front vent windows.

Admittedly the colour isn’t exactly what you’d call lovely, brown has never really been an inspiring colour, but by god is it 70s, and that does give it a serious element of cool.

The owner is asking $42,000 for this ex-highway prowler and if it has tickled your fancy then you can view the full listing here
