Video: Nissan mechanics race the clock to fix Bathurst GT-R
Time-lapse shows Bathurst 12-hour wrenchers save broken GT-R, just in time for qualifying.
If you ever needed proof that racing engineers and crew members are just as vital to a team’s success as the drivers themselves, take a wander through pit lane after hours.
The spectators may have left, but the men and women behind the scenes can often be found working all through the night, making sure that the car is tip-top come race start.
Nismo TV has shown a perfect example of this with a video posted to its YouTube channel. The #24 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 race car suffered a big wack to its chassis during Friday’s Bathurst 12 Hour practice session and, with just 14 hours until qualifying, the crew stayed up all night to repair the bent-up racer.
Fortunately, the video has been compressed into a minute-long time-lapse, showing the whole process, start to finish.
