Hero HK Monaro scores big at Shannons
HK 327 Monaro was the her car for the night.

An HK GTS 327 Monaro Bathurst coupe was the star lot at Shannons tonight, recording a stunning final bid of $302,000, significantly over the $200-230k estimate. Meanwhile a slightly less glamourous (but exceptional) HK GTS 186 Monaro pulled a remarkable $92,000.

One of the most interesting lots was a ZC Fairlane in a rare combo of 351 V8 plus manual transmission. It needed a little work but still looked like good buying at $26,000.

A 1973 Holden HQ GTS 308 Monaro sedan scored very solid bidding, finishing at $60,500 - well above estimate.

Brock cars proved popular with a VK SS scoring $61,500 and a VL Group A with low miles getting a final bid of $70,000.

The most intriguing lot of the night was the HQ Racing Victoria promo car, in aid of the Good Friday Appeal. Bidding was enthusiastic and reached $16,000, substantially above the $10k top estimate.

Our bang for you buck award goes to the buyer of the 1977 Chrysler Cordoba coupe with a 400ci V8, who got it for $6000.
