With the prices of real Porsche Speedsters heading for the stratosphere, it's predictable that an industry building replicas would eventually develop.

The quality of what's available out there varies, with the most simple effectively being a cut-down Volkswagen Beetle.

This product out of the USA is done by Beck, which is properly built on a bespoke chassis with a fibreglass body and leather interior.

Engine choice is left to the owner, however a VW-style boxer four is probably the most popular option.

This car has a 2.0lt powerplant with what the owner says is a mild cam and 40mm Webers, matched to a four-speed manual transmission. Performance should be lively, given it claims to weigh just 600kg.

It's running adjustable Koni suspension and four-wheel disc brakes.

Based in NSW, it's said to have been both fully and club registered and comes with a RWC. It would be wise to check what's involved in getting it registered before buying. Price is $49,950.
